AUDIO ENGINEERING PROGRAM WORKSHOP DETAILS
This audio recording workshop program is a multi-week, certificate-based course that teaches the principles of audio engineering and music production using computers and computer-based software tools. Founded in February 2005, The Music Technology & Recording Program includes three progressive levels of advancement in audio recording program skills.

Level I, the initial level, focuses on the fundamentals of sound, audio engineering and computer-based recording concepts. At this level, students learn the basics of music production and recording by producing and recording there own original musical compositions. There is no prior musical experience necessary and, with the help of today’s technology, even absolute beginners are able to produce professional-quality recordings. By the end of level I (approx. 16 weeks), each participant will have completed an original demo that is produced, recorded and created by him/herself.

Level II, the intermediate level, continues on where Level I leaves off. More time is focused on some of the more advanced software production and recording tools. The elements of effective mixing are also taught at Level II. One of the most exciting features at the intermediate level is that students have the opportunity to participate in several recordings that include live bands and musicians. The level 2 project is the completion of a docu-video, with music composed by the participant. Level 2 is approximately 16 weeks.

The final phase of The Music Technology & Recording Program is Level III, cyberspace integration. Today’s music makers are afforded more opportunities than ever before to promote and expose their work through the growth and evolution of the Internet. Whether it’s encoding original compositions for MP3 streaming, developing original ring tones, building simple music-based websites, or merely understanding resourceful websites such as MySpace.com or CDBaby.com, Level III students are taught the skills necessary to take advantage of the reach and immediacy of cyberspace. All of the projects that the participant will have created up to this point will culminate with a comprehensive media project that will be presented via the internet. Level three of our online audio engineering courses are approximately 16 weeks.
