I wanted to know if this sound recording program will be covering how to master a song. Also, is there a way I can take more than 1 class per week

    • Posted December 28, 2010 at 3:16 pm | Permalink

Hi Ralph, The Music Technology & Recording Program does cover mastering in Level 2. Level 1 deals with recording techniques, mixing, compression, e.q., production, and more. It is possible to take more than 1 class per week, however, typically you will have 1 class day, and 1 lab day per week. We can accelerate the course, if this interests you. Thanks.

what does the 4 rec/producer class cover..i am trying to learn the basics of setting up midid and running simple software programs.for now..

    • Posted December 28, 2010 at 3:18 pm | Permalink

Hi Marcus, our program is 3 levels, approximately 18 weeks per level. However, there is no obligation to go beyond the first level. The option that you are referring to is a payment option that allows for a $5 discount per class, if 4 classes are paid for at a time.

Is there an age requirement to be accepted into the program?

    • Posted February 13, 2011 at 4:13 pm | Permalink

Hi Matt, there is no age requirement to be accepted into our program. However, if you are under the age of 18, you will need parental or guardian approval.

    Hi guys:
I was wondering if the fulllevel 1 course fees needs to be paid in full upfront or there is some kind of payment plan option and also am I required to know some kind of music instruments ‘cos i have never done anything of this nature before.

    Thanks

    • Posted February 27, 2011 at 11:28 am | Permalink

Hi Robby. The full level 1 fees do not have to be paid in full. The initial registration is $85 (registration fee) plus 2 classes (@ $45 per class), or 4 classes (@ $40 per class). Paying for 4 classes at a time offers a $5 per class discount. It’s up to each individual student as to which option they choose. So, total initial fees will be either $175 or $245.

So if I am a rapper just looking to learn how to record and mix my own vocals at a professional level. Which classes do you recommend I take and what is the price?

    • Posted February 27, 2011 at 11:29 am | Permalink

Great question, Wellz. I recommend all students start with level 1. This level gives you the opportunity to get a general education in music production and recording. Each student spends a total of 18 weeks working on there own musical project (typically five songs).

Hi Steven. Yes, there are morning classes. We open at 9am every day. All classes are one on one.

    hey samori
i’m wondering after the completion of the classes if there will be any job oppurtunities in a studio?

    • Posted March 14, 2011 at 1:24 pm | Permalink

In terms of job opportunities, I have personally hired a number of students to work at Lil’ Drummaboy Recordings. This is obviously on a case by case basis and depends, in large part, on individual work ethic, achievement, commitment, reliability, etc. Our program will provide the information, skills, experience, and tools required for a career in the audio field. However, I don’t think any program can guarantee a job. Great question!

I HAVE A FEW SONGS THAT ARE HOT OF FRUITY LOOPS, BUT ACCIDENTALLY DELETED THEM. SO, IF I BRING IN WHAT I HAVE ALREADY RECORDED, IS THERE A WAY TO PULL UP THE SONG’S INSTRUMENTS AND RECREATE THEM? ALSO, AFTER TAKING THESE CLASSES, WHAT CAN HELP ME IN THE REAL WORLD, IF I WANT TO MARKET MY MUSIC?

    • Posted March 14, 2011 at 1:28 pm | Permalink

Hi Jerzey. If you deleted the Fruity Loops files, then it will not be possible to open up the individual instruments that were used to create the tracks. However, it is possible to create a track that is similar to the one that you created, just by listening to what you have. In terms of the classes, we will provide you with the skills, experience and tools that can enable you to have a career in the field. But, as mentioned in another comment reply, no program can guarantee a career path. This really depends on the individual’s skill level, determination, commitment, etc.

Im a local reggaeton artist and im looking into mixing and editing my own projects I already have basic recording skills and have my own home studio my question is have you ever worked with reggaeton students

    • Posted March 27, 2011 at 2:14 pm | Permalink

Hello J, yes we have worked with a couple of Reggaeton artists in the past. Actually, we have a great sample library of reggaeton sounds and loops. We have been able to help those students enhance their production abilities through incorporating music theory and audio recording/mixing techniques.

I am a sophmore and want to learn more about Music recording and production this summer, any classes thru July-August?

    • Posted March 27, 2011 at 2:17 pm | Permalink

Hello Akash, Our program runs all year long. So, yes, we will have classes July-August. Our typical program is 4 1/2 months per level. However, you can either do an accelerated program, or take our regular program just during the months that you are here, then switch to our online program when you go back to school. You will see more about our online program in the coming weeks.

I’m a little confused with the ldb program then the other options what exactly is the ldb program? thanks

    • Posted April 5, 2011 at 8:38 am | Permalink

Hi Timm. The LDB Program is our comprehensive Music Production & Recording Program. The options that you see are various payment options. There is a $85 registration fee, then students can decide to make monthly payments at @ $40/class, or weekly payments of $45/class. The other options ($805) are to fully pay for registration and all of the class fees (@ $40/class) for each level.

do you guys teach people how to use logic, instead of reason for music production

    • Posted April 25, 2011 at 10:01 am | Permalink

Hi Sean, yes we do teach Logic, Ableton Live and other software programs. Reason and Pro Tools are typically the primary tools that we use because they are very compatible with many professional studios. However, we realize that many home studio producers/engineers use a variety of software programs.

I’ve been producing for about three years and I know the basics of midi, compression, eq, mixing, etc (I use Live and reason) but I really want to step my game up in all areas. What program would you recommend for me? Is it possible to do just a four class program? My funds are a bit low. Also, can I expect to make connections in the music industry? One of my problems is finding artists to sell beats to.

    • Posted April 25, 2011 at 10:06 am | Permalink

Hello Dariel, I appreciate your recent visit to our studio facility. As we discussed, our comprehensive program is a great overall program for producers and engineers at all levels of experience. We cover a lot of the fundamentals (i.e. frequency, physics of sound, compression techniques, etc.) that get overlooked these days. It is possible to take a few classes, but these would be outside of our regular certificate-based program. Also, building industry connections, and building a client base for your productions is a very involved process. It will take planning, networking, focus, and savvy web-based/social media marketing. These are topics that get addressed throughout the 3 levels of our program. As you well know, there are know guarantees for industry success. But, hard work, consistency, and a belief-in-self do pay off.

hay i like what you guys are doing and i think its very important for artist to be independent these days and im interested in comn down and lay a track to see how it is and support you guys, but my question is.if i spend my money for the studio time am i gona get an engineer who knws as little as i know or am i going to get some 1 that knows what there doing and is going to be able to transfer my ideas for what i want to do into the music.i just want to record my vocals with a professional sound.thanks…

    • Posted April 25, 2011 at 10:13 am | Permalink

Great question, Yahshin. Our audio engineering staff are all trained professionals. We do run a recording school, however, our students are not the ones that handle our commercial recording projects. That’s a separate program. We have hired several advanced students who have the experience and skill set to handle the majority of projects that come through our studio. You can be assured that you will receive the highest quality recording services available.

Hello! I was just wondering, does this school specialize in all genres of music? I do realize tha tin the real world, you don’t get to pick what kind of music you are going to record, but i am no ta big fan of rap. And after the reading the comments, i’m confused as to whether this school will only accept people that are looking to record in the rap genres. :) It sounds liek a wonderful school though and i am definitly interested, either way :)

    • Posted June 6, 2011 at 12:33 pm | Permalink

Hi Shawny, thanks for your interest in our program. Great question. Our students are diverse. Currently, we have students who are working on rock, industrial, hip-hop, singer-songwriter, house, punk, and more. Our program is one-on-one, so we approach each student where they are. We prefer not to use a cookie cutter approach. Hope this helps.
